Season premieres this fall
Lainey Wilson is putting her acting chops to use when Yellowstone returns for season five this fall. The country singer has been cast as musician Abby in a recurring role on the Paramount Network series set to return on November 13th. Wilson’s one of several new castings announced by the network this afternoon (Friday, June 10th).
Shortly after the announcement, Wilson spoke with SiriusXM’s Ania Hammer about the news.
“This is the first time I’ve said it out loud. So this is my first interview since we announced, this is my first time I’m sayin’ it, I’m gonna be a co-star on season five Yellowstone,” Wilson says in a clip posted on Twitter.
“You know, she’s gonna be a musician and so I get to play my songs too, it’s perfect. Taylor Sheridan, the writer and producer of the show, called me back in February and was like, ‘I’m creating a character specifically for you.’ And I’m like, ‘Thank you God and thank you Taylor Sheridan.’ It’s a blessing.”
Yellowstone stars world-renowned actor and Oscar-winner Kevin Costner, who serves in the lead role, and is co-created by critically-acclaimed, Oscar-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan and John Linson.
Yellowstone chronicles the Dutton family, led by John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect – the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders – an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.
Yellowstone, produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, is television’s No. 1 scripted series across cable and broadcast TV.
