Pop star has been hospitalized

Madonna has been forced to postpone her career-spanning Celebration Tour due to a “serious bacterial infection” that has led to a multi day stay in a hospital. The pop star’s manager, Guy Oseary, shared the news on social media on Wednesday (June 28th).

“On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several day stay in the ICU. Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected,” the message reads.

“At this time, we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”

The Celebration Tour was set to kick off on July 15th at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC with stops in Phoenix, Seattle, Denver, and more before making its way to Europe where she will perform in 11 cities throughout the fall, including Antwerp, Copenhagen, and Stockholm, among others. She will then return to the US for the additional dates across New York, Washington, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and more through January 2024.

Madonna, the best-selling female solo touring artist of all time, has sold out over 40 shows on the trek, and also dominated global charts with her career-spanning Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones.

Recently, she teamed with Sam Smith for “Vulgar” and The Weeknd and Playboi Carti for “Popular” from the HBO series, The Idol, in which The Weeknd co-created, co-wrote and co-stars.
