Man was transported to a hospital in stable condition

A fan attending the Indianapolis stop of The Stadium Tour with Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett was rushed to the hospital after falling from an upper balcony level at Lucas Oil Stadium. The incident happened Tuesday night (Aug 16th) about 45 minutes into the Crüe’s closing set as they were performing “Looks That Kill.”

TMZ reports the male victim was “awake and breathing” but lying motionless on the ground with a puddle of blood surrounding the victim. The crowd jumped to their feet and gasp after realizing what had happened.

“We seen a figure, at first we didn’t think it was a person, we thought it, you know, they had been tossing volleyballs and different stuff around the crowd. But when you heard the thud twice, then we knew it was a person. You could hear the audible gasps over the music playing,” Steven Neeley tells Indianapolis’ 13News.

“Everyone was just kind of standing around looking, trying to figure out what to do, who to talk to, who to get to come over to the landing and check the person out,” adds Krista Neeley. “We didn’t know if they were breathing or not breathing or what was going on.”

Police and paramedics arrived quickly and wheeled the victim out of the stadium on a gurney. His condition is currently unknown, but he was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Indianapolis police are investigating the incident as an accident and believe the man was intoxicated and stumbled over the railing.

It doesn’t appear that Mötley Crüe was aware of the incident as it happened on of the far end of stage left mid performance. They’ve yet to make a statement on the matter.

This is the second incident at a stadium concert in two weeks. On July 30th, a woman fell to her death from an escalator at the end of Kenny Chesney’s concert at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver. The woman was sitting on an escalator railing when she fell to the concourse below and died due to her injuries. Police are investigating that incident as accidental as well.
