The tour celebrates everything Van Halen

Last week, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar announced the long-awaited The Best of All Worlds 2024 tour featuring bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Joe Satriani. The 28-date tour is set to focus largely on Van Halen music, including deep cuts that haven’t been heard live in years.

During the announcement on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM on November 14th, Hagar stated the group would be open to performing songs with Van Halen drummer Alex Van Halen and former frontman David Lee Roth.

“We’re gonna invite every musician in every town,” he said. “First of all, whenever you play, if there’s a guitar player in town, no matter what city it is, they come out to see Joe, just like they used to for Eddie [Van Halen]. So if we’ve got other guitar players, we’ll get them involved, you know, other singers, get them involved. If Alex Van Halen wants to jump up, if David Lee Roth wants to come out and join us, come on, motherfucker. You are welcome. This is about Van Halen.”

The next day, he publicly told SiriusXM’s Eddie Trunk, “From the bottom of my heart, he would be so welcome.”

Roth responded to that statement, telling Van Halen News Desk, “I’m ready to go. Let’s do this.”

Given the duo’s tumultuous past and public digs towards each other, fans asked Hagar on Instagram if Roth would be welcome to join the tour.

“He can come out and sing a song or two if he can remember the words,” Hagar responded to one fan.

“He’s not invited on the tour. No fucking way It was to sing a song with us somewhere like a lot of singers, guitarists, etc, are going to do on this tour. I know better than to have him on the tour again. Been there, done that,” he said to a second fan while stating, “He ain’t coming out with me again. Maybe one show, a song or two, if he remembers the words” to a third.

Van Halen News Desk also reports that Roth has not received an official offer from Hagar’s camp.

The tour follows on the heels of the chart-topping success of The Collection II, the box set released October 6th featuring newly remastered versions of the four consecutive No. 1 albums released during the Hagar era of Van Halen. The tour will also occur on the 20th anniversary of the Van Halen reunion tour with Anthony and Roth in 2004.

“It’s crazy to think that it’ll be 20 years since Mikey and I played these songs with Van Halen on the 04’ Best of Both Worlds Tour,” states Hagar. “With Joe on board, we can take a deeper dive into those years. We’re going to touch on some hits from my entire career but seeing fans old and new really embrace the new collection set off something in Mikey and I. We were at my Birthday Bash in Cabo for my 76th and looked at each other and high-fived, like ‘Let’s do it.’ We pulled out a couple of them and it was an instant lovefest with the fans from our first riffs. The music we created is going to outlive us all. They deserve to be heard so it’s time we go out and serve the fans that music, while we still can.”

The tour represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this band of brothers deliver one of the most legendary hits-packed live shows of their career.
