The album’s first single, “Friend of a Friend,” is available now

The Smile has released their new single “Friend Of A Friend,” taken from their upcoming album, Wall Of Eyes, which arrives on January 26th on CD, LP and digitally. First showcased live during the band’s 2022-2023 tour, the studio version features a saxophone from Robert Stillman and strings from the London Contemporary Orchestra.

The video for “Friend Of A Friend,” directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, will be premiered alongside the first and only surround sound playback of the new album during a series of one-off events titled Wall Of Eyes, On Film between January 18th and 25th.

Twelve independent cinemas from Sydney to Mexico City will be hosting the events – including presentations of previous collaborations with Paul Thomas Anderson, as well as never-before-seen footage of the album’s recording sessions and limited edition merch, including a unique cassette of the album.

The new album was recorded between Oxford and Abbey Road Studios and is produced and mixed by Sam Petts-Davies. It features string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra.
