Band will release a final album and global tour

Canadian pop punk veterans Sum 41 has announced that the group is disbanding after 27 years together. The group shared the news on social media, stating a final album and tour are in the works.

“Being in Sum 41 since 1996 brought us some of the best moments of our lives. We are forever grateful to our fans both old and new, who have supported us in every way. It is hard to articulate the love and respect we have for all of you and we wanted you to hear this from us first,” they write.

“Sum 41 will be disbanding. We will still be finishing all of our current upcoming tour dates this year, and we’re looking forward to releasing our final album Heaven :x: Hell, along with a final worldwide headlining tour to celebrate. Details will be announced as soon as we have them.

“For now, we look forward to seeing all of you skumfuks on the road and are excited for what the future will bring for each of us. Thank you for the last 27 years of Sum 41.”

The group is currently on the road with The Offspring and Simple Plan with dates scheduled through the fall. Sum 41 will tour Europe in June with stops in Italy, Germany, Switzerland and more.

Guitarist Deryck Whibley, drummer Steve Jocz, bassist Richard Roy and vocalist Jon Marshall for the band in Ontario in 1996. The current touring lineup consists of Whibley on vocalist and guitar, Dave Brownsound on lead guitar and backing vocals, Tom Thaker on lead guitar and backing vocals, Cone McCaslin on bass and backing vocals and Frank Zummo on drums.

The group has sold over 15 million records worldwide, received a Grammy Award nomination, two Juno Awards and seven nominations, a Kerrang! Award in 2002, as well as multiple Alternative Press Music Awards.
