Swift is currently re-recording her first six albums

Taylor Swift has given fans a small taste of what to expect as she re-records her first six studio albums originally released via Big Machine Label Group. On Wednesday (Dec 2nd), Swift shared a true to original snippet of the re-recording of her single 2008 single “Love Story” which appears in a new match.com ad that was written by friend and actor/director Ryan Reynolds.

“Okay so while my new re-records are NOT done, my friend @VancityReynolds asked me if he could use a snippet of one for a LOLsome commercial he wrote so…here’s a sneak peak of Love Story! Working hard to get the music to you soon!!” she shares on Twitter.

The ad features Satan falling in love with a woman named 2020 on the popular dating platform. At the end, both joke that neither want this year to end as they are a “match made in hell,” as they poke fun at the pandemic.

The snippet comes as Swift is in the midst of re-recording her first six albums following the sale of her Big Machine catalog masters last month after current owner Scooter Braun, who’s Ithaca Holdings LLC purchased the label mid-2019, sold them to Shamrock Holdings for upwards of $300 million. Swift has been at odds with the label, founder Scott Borchetta and Braun over the past couple of years as she’s attempted to purchase the masters to no avail while also being caught up in live performing rights of the same songs.

Swift, who is now legally able to re-record her first six projects, decided not to work with Shamrock after learning of Braun’s profitability.

“As soon as we started communication with Shamrock, I learned that under their terms Scooter Braun will continue to profit off my old musical catalog for many years. I was hopeful and open to the possibility of a partnership with Shamrock, but Scooter’s participation is a non-starter for me,” she shares.

“I have recently begun re-recording my older music and it has already proven to be both exciting and creatively fulfilling. I have plenty of surprises in store. I want to thank you guys for supporting me through this ongoing saga, and I can’t wait for you to hear what I’ve been dreaming up.”

BMLG signed Swift at the beginning of her career and helped develop her into a global superstar. The label released all six of Swift’s multi-platinum studio albums including Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 and Reputation. Under Big Machine, Swift earned ten GRAMMY nominations and broke records by becoming the only artist in Nielsen Music history to achieve four million-selling weeks.
