New film will air on Hallmark

Train is releasing a movie this year to coincide with their Christmas in Tahoe album. Train frontman Pat Monahan shared the news during an interview with Audacy’s 96.5 TIC in Hartford, CT for the 20th anniversary of their hit song, “Drops of Jupiter.”

“We have a Christmas album that’s made. It’s called Christmas in Tahoe and we add songs to it as time goes on. The album’s been out for about five years,” Monahan tells Christine & Salt. “But we’re shooting a movie for the album, called Christmas in Tahoe, that will come out this Christmas on Hallmark… We’re gonna shoot it in Vancouver, and Canada’s being pretty tough right now.”

Further details about the movie are expected soon.

Christmas in Tahoe was originally released in 2015 featuring a mix of holiday standards and original material. Two years later, it was reissued as a deluxe edition with five additional tracks not found on the original.

Train will return to the Sail Across the Sun experience in 2023, after skipping next year while cruise lines work on getting fully back in action following the pandemic.

Monahan also reminisced on Train’s cover of Led Zeppelin II that saw the band pay homage to the rock legends in 2016.

“I wanted to be everyone in Led Zeppelin and I have never experienced that with any other band…Robert Plant is the coolest singer ever…and that’s what I think it all stems from, who as a child you want to emulate and that was the band for me.”

Train is back on the road performing throughout the United States. They are set to play at famous Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA on Thursday (Aug 18th) with dates set through October.

Earlier this summer, the band performed its first livestream in celebration of the incredible 20th anniversary milestone of their multi-platinum album Drops of Jupiter. They performed the entire album as part of a career spanning-set filled with their biggest hits and fan favorites.
