Concert was canceled due to “production issues”

Travis Scott’s Utopia concert at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt set for this weekend has been canceled. Live Nation Middle East confirmed the news via social media on Wednesday (July 26th).

“We regret to inform you that the Utopia show, originally scheduled for July 28th at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt is cancelled. Unfortunately, despite highest efforts, complex production issues meant that the show could not be constructed in the desert,” they share. “We understand that this news is disappointing and not the outcome any of us desired.”

Fans who purchased tickets can seek a refund at point of purchase.

Despite Live Nation’s statement, multiple reports indicate the concert was canceled after the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate, which issues permits for events, revoked the permit due to “the artist’s positions, the syndicate found images and documented information on the strange rituals he practices, which go against our traditions.”

The Diamond-certified eight-time Grammy Award-nominated artist, designer, style icon, actor, producer, and Cactus Jack record label founder is set to release his latest album, Utopia, on Friday, July 28th. The project will feature five different artworks and will be available on CD, LP and digital. His new film, Circus Maximus, will be in theaters beginning tomorrow (Thurs, July 27th).
