The group played a one-off show at Allegiant Stadium

Global K-pop superstars Twice returned to the US for an encore performance of their record-breaking 5th World Tour Ready to Be tonight (Sat, Mar 16) in Las Vegas. Twice 5th World Tour Ready to Be Once More follows a triumphant run of North America, Asia, and Australia in 2023.

The nine-piece group made their Allegiant Stadium debut — and only US appearance in 2024 — with an exhilarating nearly three-hour concert full of hits, dancing, and surprise moments.

The group featured songs from their newly minted second Billboard 200 chart No. 1 album, With You-th, which marks their 13th mini project since 2015. “One Spark” received a huge reaction as they teased the song a cappella at the edge of the stage.

The first act of the concert featured the group singing and dancing to tracks. After a few songs, each member addressed the crowd with a translator, when necessary. They praised the audience for their embrace while expressing love for their fans they call Once.

The second act introduced a live band which played through the majority of the rest of the concert that featured two more acts and an encore. The group premiered the band during their 2023 tour, kicking off with an extended intro for “Feel Special” that spotlighted each musician with a brief solo.

”We wanted to try something new for this tour,” Nayeon stated. “We have a live band for the first time on this tour.”

During this tour, Twice spotlighted each member with solo sections. Dance versions of tracks by Colbie Caillat featuring Dayhun on piano, Charlie Puth, Dua Lipa, Beyonce, and Ariana Grande were performed during the first act. Chaeyoung, Jiyho, and Nayeon each performed a snippet of an original song during the second while Jeongyeon covered Justin Timberlake’s massive hit, “Can’t Stop This Feeling” with the band. Momo learned pole dancing for her solo section, something she said she was nervous about but was eased by the Once reaction.

From the opening “Set Me Free,” Once were revved and on their feet with deafening cheers the entire night. The crowd erupted each time a member appeared in the gigantic screens that engulfed the stage and after each song. Small vignettes were used to break up each act, giving fans a chance to sit briefly while the stage was set for the next segment.

”When We Were Kids” had the coolest graphics. A newspaper with toddler photos of each member was displayed along with their live image from the stage. The main set wrapped with “Crazy Stupid Love” that showed the members in an instant photo with the lyrics on the frame.

The encore songs were determined by the girls playing Roulette as the wheel displayed fan favorite songs. This is the section that often receives the biggest reaction as Once doesn’t know what to expect each night. The group plays the songs that get the most reaction to wrap the night.

Openers Vcha – a first-of-its-kind global, female pop group from K-pop powerhouse JYP Entertainment and Republic Records – made their US debut with a three-song set. The group, formed through the competition series A2K, opened with their newly released single, “Only One,” before addressing the audience. Down one member, the five-piece continued with “Y.O. Universe” and their debut single, “Girls of the Year,” much to the audience’s delight.

Some may suggest all K-pop shows are the same, but Twice reinvents the genre by adding a live band. The energy was given a huge boost, and the songs felt more lively, with the audience, vocalists, and dancers feeding off the musicians. I hope additional pop artists follow this method moving forward.

The Entertainment Capital of the World was the perfect way to wrap a global tour by the superstars. More than 40,000 Once of all ages showed up wearing their favorite merch while bearing light sticks for a truly interactive experience. Anyone who’s been to a K-pop show knows how to embrace the fandom, and many traveled from all over to see the group’s first Vegas concert and never regretting any moment of their journey!
