The single was released to radio earlier this month

U2 has released the official video for “You’re The Best Thing About Me,” the first single from their highly anticipated 14th album, Songs of Experience set for release later this year.

The video, directed by Jonas Åkerlund, sees the members of U2 reveling in the sights and sounds of New York City where, as a young Dublin band, they played their first U.S. club gig in December 1980 beginning a love affair with the city which has endured for almost 40 years.

Shot earlier this month while the band were on tour and featuring U2 in performance, the video is a fitting backdrop for the “You’re The Best Thing About Me” – Bono’s love letter to his wife Ali – and serves as a visual tapestry of tribute to New York and a serenade to the city’s iconic symbols of American compassion and liberty.

Songs of Experience will be available on CD, vinyl and digital download, with the release date and pre-order details to be announced soon. The Irish Sun reports that U2 will release Songs Of Experience on Friday, December 1st, World AIDS Day, in conjunction with Project Red, an initiative set up by Bono to raise funds to fight the disease.

Songs of Experience is the companion to 2014’s Songs of Innocence. While Songs of Innocence charted the band’s earliest influences and experiences in the late 1970s and early 80s, the new album is a collection of songs in the form of intimate letters to places and people close to the Bono’s heart; family, friends, fans, himself. The two titles draw inspiration from a collection of poems, Songs of Innocence and Experience, by the 18th century English mystic and poet William Blake.
