His participation in the GRAMMYs is unknown

BTS member Jungkook has tested positive for COVID after arriving in Las Vegas for the group’s performance at the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, April 3rd.

His label, Big Hit Entertainment, shared on socials that Jungkook tested negative before departing Korea last Sunday (Mar 27th), but “after arriving in Las Vegas, he felt a slight discomfort in his throat and promptly” took a rapid molecular PCR test and standard quantitative test. The K-pop star immediately went into self-isolation, where he remains, as both tests were confirmed positive on Monday (Mar 28th).

It’s unknown at this time if he will perform with his group on Sunday or the band’s series of BTS Permission to Dance on Stage – Las Vegas shows. The label says they will “attentively monitor his health during the quarantine” and that they’re “actively in discussion with the awards organizer” about his participation. Local COVID-19 regulations will determine if he’s able to appear at the Permission to Dance shows.

We’ve reached out the Recording Academy for comment, but have not received a response as of press time.

The group is headlining a series of BTS Permission to Dance on Stage – Las Vegas shows at Allegiant Stadium on April 8th, 9th, 15th and 16th which sold out during the BTS Army fan club presale. All will be broadcast as Live Play events across the highway at MGM Grand Garden Arena each night. Live Play is a paid in-person event in which BTS Army members can watch the concert in real-time on a large screen to feel the lively moment of the concert. In addition, there will be various on-site programs such as Photo Card Random Box and photo zone to enjoy the concert even more at each Live Play.

The April 16th date will be live-streamed with details that are forthcoming.

In December, three of the group’s seven members tested positive following a return to South Korea after a run of United States tour dates. Rappers RM and Suga and vocalist Jin were all diagnosed with breakthrough cases of COVID after receiving a completed dose of the coronavirus vaccine in August 2021.
