Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are returning to Atlanta to christen the Mercedes-Benz Stadium with the first-ever concert on October 12th at 7:30 pm. The open-roof stadium will feature the stage set in the round and a five-story halo video board that creates an unmatched experience for the tour.

Brooks broke the news as a new G-Alert on Facebook Live this afternoon featuring a video of Brooks walking through the stadium containing live performance footage and his hit “The Thunder Rolls.”

“This is gonna be cool. It’s gonna be the inaugural concert in there. Let me just tell you, I’m not trying to give it all away because I know the people at the stadium kinda want to let you know what’s going on,” he says. “Just get ready for a couple of things, man. Standing up here looking at this thing — You stand at that sky bridge and see what’s before you and you look back and see this beautiful shot of all of downtown. It’s gorgeous. It’ll be the heart of Atlanta. Very very cool. The second thing I can’t tell you about, the halo. I’m just saying, ask somebody about the halo. It changes everything about how you view the sporting event or concert.”

Garth Brooks broke barriers for country music by integrating the genre into mainstream culture in America and becoming the only artist in history to achieve Diamond status on seven albums. Mercedes-Benz Stadium is breaking the barriers of the typical venue experience by creating one unlike any stadium in the world.

“Two of Arthur Blank’s goals for Mercedes-Benz Stadium were to create premiere home venues for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC, and to attract the best in sports and entertainment to Atlanta,” says Steve Cannon, chief executive officer of AMB Group. “We’ve succeeded in securing the premiere sporting events in America and now have the top-selling solo artist of the 20th century, Garth Brooks, coming to Atlanta to showcase the stadium as an elite music venue. We could not be more pleased to have Garth set this milestone in the stadium.”

Tickets will go on sale Friday, June 30th at 10 am ET and may be purchased by visiting Ticketmaster.com/garthbrooks or by calling 800-745-3000.

The booking was done by AMB Sports and Entertainment in conjunction with Rob Beckham with WME and Marcy Allen with MAC Presents. This is the first time ever that Brooks is allowing an entity to promote his shows other than himself.

Atlanta was the second stop on the Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood. In September 2014, Brooks performed seven consecutive shows at the Philips Arena, breaking his own personal record for tickets sold in the city.
