Pickler thanks fans for their support

Kellie Pickler has spoken out for the first time since her husband’s suicide six months ago. The 37 year old multi-faceted star released a written statement to People on Thursday (Aug 17th), thanking fans for their support.

“One of the most beautiful lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of a crisis, if you don’t know what to do, ‘do nothing, just be still.’ I have chosen to heed his advice,” Pickler says.

She continues, “Thank you to my family, friends, and supporters, for the countless letters, calls, and messages that you have sent my way. It has truly touched my soul and it’s helping me get through the darkest time in my life. As many of you have told me, you are all in my prayers. I am planning an intimate memorial for my husband, which will happen later this fall, that is what Kyle would have wanted.”

Jacobs, who was a prominent Nashville songwriter and musician, died on February 17th at the age of 49 in the couple’s Nashville area home. Pickler reported that she was asleep when the incident happened but began looking for Jacobs after awakening and couldn’t find him. Her assistant called 911 after she and Pickler were unable to open the door where Jacobs was found.

An autopsy confirmed Jacobs’ cause of death, stating no drugs were found in his system, however, he had a history of “pseudoseizures, gastrointestinal bleeding, elevated liver enzymes, and chronic alcohol use.”

The pair eloped in 2011 after dating for more than a year. They starred in the CMT reality show, I Love Kellie Pickler, which focused on their relationship and careers. The show ran from 2015-2018.

Pickler was a host on SiriusXM’s The Highway for a short time, but resigned from that position following Jacobs’ death. She’s largely been inactive since, and hasn’t posted on social media.
