CeeLo Green Is… Thomas Callaway is available June 26th
CeeLo Green releases his third single “People Watching” from his new album CeeLo Green is… Thomas Callaway, available on June 26th worldwide. The new track was co-written by Green and producer Dan Auerbach with Nashville songwriting legend Paul Overstreet. It’s infused with a Nashville sound and vibe where Green recorded this new album.
CeeLo Green is… Thomas Callaway features the singles “Lead Me”, “Doing It All Together” and “People Watching” along with nine other tracks that are lyrically positive and exactly what the world needs right now. This is Green’s first album in five years and it’s been dubbed to have an Afro-Americana sound with soulful vocals and traces of Nashville where the album was recorded.
CeeLo Green Is… Thomas Callaway was recorded in Nashville with a live band in studio, marking a first for the R&B superstar. Green exclusively tells us on The Music Universe Podcast that Auerbach arranged the live band to be a group of noteworthy Nashville musicians and songwriters including Dave Roe, who was Johnny Cash’s bass player and has performed with Dwight Yoakam and Cowboy Jack Clement; Bobby Wood, who’s recorded with Kris Kistrofferson, George Jones and Elvis Presley; Gene Crisman, who’s recorded with Elvis, Roy Orbison, Dusty Springfield; Russ Pahl, who’s played with Don Williams, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift.
Songwriters include Wood; Songwriters Hall of Famer Roger Cook, who has written generation defining hits like “You’ve Got Troubles”, “I’d Like To Teach The World to Sing”, “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress;” and Paul Overstreet, another Nashville legend who has pinned George Jones hit “Same Ole Me” and “Beautiful Boy” and hits for the likes of Randy Travis, Tanya Tucker, Blake Shelton, the Judds, Kenny Chesney.
