Taylor Swift’s 11th full-length studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, shattered countless records during its first week of release.

The project debuts at No. 1 globally, including the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, New Zealand. It breaks the record for the highest first week US streams for any album in history; earns the biggest US sales week of Taylor Swift’s career, surpassing 1989 (Taylor’s Version); breaks the record for biggest vinyl sales week for any album in Nielsen era; becomes the fastest album to surpass one billion global album streams in history; becomes the No. 1 best-selling album of the year in under 48 hours; and more.

Swift has become the only artist to debut seven albums with over one million units sold in their first week. She’s the No. 1 best-selling artist by total album units in the US in 2024 as the project breaks the record for the biggest first-week global Spotify streams for any album in under four days of release as well as her all-time record for most single-day streams for an artist catalog in global Spotify history with 380 million. She’s the fastest artist reach ten billion streams on Spotify in a calendar year. She has broken the record for most No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 this century, extending her record as a soloist with the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 at 106 weeks.

Other highlights include breaking the record for the biggest album debut in Spotify history with 314 million streams, breaking the record for the biggest album debut in US Spotify history with 150 million streams, and more. Swift also claims four No. 1 hits on the US iTunes chart, self-replacing the top spot. She extends her record for the most No. 1 hits on US iTunes among all artists with 69, and claims the biggest first-day streams for pop album in Apple Music history. At Amazon, the album claims the biggest for first-day global streams in history, doubling her 1989 (Taylor’s Version); and claims the most first-week global streams for any album in history, surpassing 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in less than five days.

Swift claims the biggest debut week of 2024 in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden and The UK. The album marks the biggest vinyl week one in ARIA history with 27,097 units sold in Australia, and becomes the biggest Canadian vinyl sales week in Soundscan/Luminate history.

Swift also matches Madonna as the female artist to have 12 No. 1 albums in the UK while claiming her 13th chart-topping album in Australia; and many others.
