Nearly 900 people were in attendance in Salt Lake City
Garth Brooks absolutely rocked The Westerner in Salt Lake City on Friday night (July 16th). There were nearly 900 people in attendance for the radio-only ticketed event. KSOP, which normally goes by Z104 but this week went as G104 in celebration of all things Garth, was the only station to give tickets away to listeners 21+.
Proof of vaccination and masks were required for entry.
“I’ve been here at KSOP since 1988 and the Garth Brooks Dive Bar show has been the biggest thing I think we’ve ever done,” shares Z104 Program Direction and morning show host Deb Turpin. “The chance to see Garth in this setting is the chance of a lifetime for our listeners. We’ve heard hundreds of stories the past few weeks about Garth Brooks and his influence on people’s lives and everything that comes with life. He continues to touch lives with his music and passion. We are grateful for this opportunity and just had the highest ratings in 26 years, so that doesn’t hurt either! Thank you Garth!”
This was the first Dive Bar Tour stop since February 2020, where he played the Six String in Foxborough, MA. The Garth Brooks Stadium Tour plays Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City Saturday night (July 17th) where he sold over 50,000 tickets in less than 30 minutes, marking Ticketmaster’s fastest stadium sell out in US history.
Just before taking the stage, Brooks went live on Facebook.
This is the eighth Dive Bar Tour stop since Brooks began the trek in summer of 2019. The tour was initially set to be seven stops in between stadium dates, but was expanded by popular demand after more than 2,500 dive bars have been nominated by the fans since the kickoff. The first was at Joe’s on Weed Street in Chicago in July 2019. The second was at Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, CA in August 2019. The third was at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, TX in September 2019. The fourth one was The Barn in Sanford, FL in October 2019. The fifth stop was at The Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown, OH, also in October 2019. The sixth concert was at Prospectors in Mt. Laurel, NJ just outside of Philadelphia in December 2019 with the seventh one at Six String in Foxborough, MA in February 2020.
The Dive Bar Tour is inspired by Brooks’ “Dive Bar” single featuring Blake Shelton. The track was the most added song at country radio upon its debut and is taken from Brooks’ latest studio album Fun. It’s the duo’s his first musical collaboration together. Upon its release, the “Dive Bar” video amassed more than 26k views in 72 hours.
In March 2019, Brooks launched The Stadium Tour, which has broken stadium attendance records at every stop on the tour so far and was named the best selling country music tour of 2019 by Pollstar.
